If you've got a job and your monthly income is at least 252 EUR:

  1. Apply for the Study Loan at branch. In the application, you will need to specify the educational institution were you plan to study (can be changed later) and the tuition fee you need to have financed. Make sure you have a valid passport or ID card with you when visiting a branch.
  2. Wait for a reply from the bank. We will reply within 2 business days. In case your income is insufficient for being granted the Study Loan, we will ask you to engage a guarantor, for example, a parent.
  3. Go to branch and sign the documents. You will be asked to present a valid passport or ID card and your agreement with the school.

If you don't have a job, you can apply for the Study Loan together with a guarantor whose income is at least 252 EUR, for example a parent.

  1. Apply for the Study Loan in a branch together with your guarantor. If you can't come together with the guarantor, they can submit their application on their own via Internet Banking or at any branch (after you have made your application). In the application, you will need to specify the educational institution were you plan to study (can be changed later) and the tuition fee you need to have financed. Make sure you have a valid passport or ID card with you when visiting a branch.
  2. Wait for a reply from the bank. We will reply within 2 business days.
  3. Go to branch together with the guarantor and sign the documents. If you can't come together with the guarantor, they can sign the agreement on their own at any branch. You will be asked to present a valid passport or ID card and your agreement with the school.
  4. We will make the transfer to the school in one day's time so that you could focus all your attention on studying.

Student and guarantor requirements

If the loan is secured
against student's income

The following eligibility criteria will be assessed:

  • the student is at least 21 year of age;
  • regular income of at least 252 EUR (after taxes and all types of long-term loan / car lease monthly payments) has been transferred to student's Swedbank account for at least one month.

If the loan is secured
against a natural person's guarantee

The following eligibility criteria will be assessed:

  • the guarantor is between 21 and 55 years of age;
  • regular income of at least 252 EUR (after taxes and all types of long-term loan / car lease monthly payments of the student / guarantor) has been transferred to student's Swedbank account for at least one month.

Loan disbursement and repayment

Loan disbursement

For studies in Latvia - The loan amount is transferred to the account of the educational establishment. Disbursement of loan for studies abroad - The loan amount is transferred to the student's current account at the bank in the currency specified in the study contract.

Loan repayment

The loan is repayable within 5 years after the date of graduation if the loan amount is less than EUR 1423. If the loan amount exceeds EUR 1423, then the repayment period is 10 years. The repayment of the loan starts from the 12th month after the graduation or from the 3rd month after discontinuation of studies. Interest is payable every month and accrues on the disbursed loan amount.

If you have not been overdue with any loan repayments within the last 6 months, then the loan principal repayments may be postponed and the repayment period may be extended by the time when:

  • you are in maternity or postnatal leave;
  • you are in child-care leave (up to 1.5 years) and do not work full time;
  • you continue studies for master's or doctor's degree or are in residency training.

What to submit?

  1. name of the educational establishment;
  2. the amount necessary per one term;
  3. year of graduation;

And one of the following documents:

  • a signed study agreement between the student and the educational establishment;
  • a written confirmation that the student has been enrolled to the educational establishment;
  • invoice for tuition fee (mandatory in case of studies abroad).
