Contactless payments - an even faster way to pay by card!

Swedbank's new Business Debit Cards allow making purchases costing up to 10 euros without PIN entry - by simply hovering the card over the card reader.

  • Secure - you can't pay twice for one and the same purchase, each purchase has a unique security code. If a number of low-value payments are made within a short time span, the terminal will require the card to be inserted and the PIN entered.
  • Fast - 2x faster than paying by inserting the card into the terminal and entering PIN and 3x faster than paying in cash.
  • International - contactless payments will also work abroad. Please note that contactless payment amount limits can differ from country to country.
  • Flexible - the contactless payment feature can be enabled or disabled at any time in via Swedbank Internet Banking or at any Swedbank branch. The change will take effect after one payment confirmed with PIN.

    Where can I order a card?

    Corporate customers can order debit cards:

    • viaBusiness Internet Banking by filling out the application and signing the card agreement with the eID;
    • by calling our 24-hour customer service line on 67 444 444;
    • in the nearest Swedbank branch.

    Credit cards can be applied for:

    Attention!

    If your wish to order a debit card and sign the agreement via Business Internet Banking, you:

    1. must have the right to represent the company singly according to the records of the Register of Enterprises of the Republic of Latvia available in Lursoft;
    2. must be logged in to the Business Internet Banking in full-access mode;
    3. must be logged in to the Business Internet Banking with the eID card.

    The card ordering application can also be filled out on the Business Internet Banking site by other person who has access to the company's Internet Banking user account (access mode: all except payment preparation). In that case the application will be stored for 7 calendar days during which time the authorized signatory must log on to Internet Banking and confirm the application by signing the Card Agreement.
    If the application is not confirmed within 7 days, it will be irrevocably cancelled and production of the card will not start.

    The credit card agreement is signed and the card is received by the company's authorized signatory at the branch specified in the application.

    To order the card by calling the 24-hour customer service line on 67 444 444, the caller must have the right to represent the company singly.

  • Card delivery

    How can we receive the card ordered?

    When ready, the card ordered will be delivered in the manner selected in the Card Agreement:

    • by post to the company's contact address (only debit cards);
    • to your preferred branch.

    We recommend it to companies to opt for debit card delivery by post. Cards are delivered by post within the territory of Latvia free of charge.

    Is it safe to receive cards by post?

    Yes. Delivery of cards by post is secure:

    • the card is sent inactive and separately from PIN (for renewed cards, the PIN is not sent because it stays the same);
    • the card can only be activated via Internet Banking by the company's representative with the full-access rights on the Business Internet Banking site by entering the CVV/CVC code shown on the reverse side of the card.

    What conditions apply for receiving the card at branch?

    If the Card Agreement is already signed (applies also to renewed cards), then in case of a business debit card it can be collected by the company's authorized signatory or by the respective cardholder upon presentation of an identity document.

    If the Card Agreement has not yet been signed or it applies to any type of credit card, the card can be collected at branch only by the company's authorized signatory. In such an event the Card Agreement will be signed at branch.

    How to change the way the card is received?

    The easiest way to change how you receive your card is to do so via Internet Banking in the "Our company's cards" section by clicking on the link "View/Change" next to the card in question. Corporate customers can choose to receive cards by post to the company's specified contact address (only debit cards) or at their preferred branch of the bank.
    Attention!

    • To change the way the card is received, the Internet Banking user must have full access rights on the Business Internet Banking site.
    • For renewed cards, the way of receiving the card can be changed no later than one month before the card's expiration date (shown on the card).
  • Activating the card

    How to activate the card received?

    Cards received by post can be activated via Internet Banking in the section "Our company cards". For detailed instructions, see here
    Attention! Cards received by post must be activated within one month after received.

    In case of receiving the card at branch, it will be activated by the bank employee at the time of issuing it.

  • PIN

    Where can I see my PIN?

    In case of a new bank card, the PIN is issued in a separate envelope when you receive the card by post or collect it at branch. Renewed cards will have their former PIN.

    If I don't remember the card's PIN, can I get a new PIN for my card?

    No. A new PIN for an existing card will not be issued. Also, it cannot be obtained from the bank employees or via Internet Banking.
    If you can't remember the PIN, you need to order a new card.

    How can I change my PIN?

    The card PIN can be replaced in Swedbank ATMs in Latvia by choosing the option "Other operations" > "PIN change".
    The PIN can be changed for all cards issued by Swedbank.

    Is PIN change a free-of-charge service?

    Yes. No fee will be charged for PIN change.

  • Limits

    What are the bank card limits and how to modify them?

    Cards are subject to limits on:

    • card purchases;
    • cash withdrawals;
    • cash deposits;
    • paying bills in ATMs (only for debit cards).

    When a bank card is issued, the default limits are automatically in force for it unless a change of limits is requested at the time of concluding the Card Agreement. The default limits vary depending on the type of card.

    The limits are not interrelated and do not affect limits on Internet Banking transfers.

    Where can I check my card limits?

    The easiest way to find out your current card limits is via Internet Banking in section "Our company's cards" by enabling information about the respective card (link View/Modify next to the card in question).

    Where and how can I modify the card limits?

    Card limits can be modified via Internet Banking in the "Company's cards" section subject to the Internet Banking user rights by clicking on the link "View/Modify" next to the card in question.
    Certain limitations apply to increasing the limits via Internet Banking. If you the limits you need for your card are higher than Internet Banking permits to set, please contact the bank by phone on 67 444 444.
    When contacting the bank over the phone, you will need your Internet Banking login credentials - user ID and code card/security token.

  • Buying online

    Will I be able to pay by my card at all online retail outlets?

    Yes. The card be used for paying if the merchant accepts this type of cards and has not set any special restrictions. Exception - the Cash Deposit Machine Card which is only for depositing cash via cash-deposit ATMs.

    What's ‘secure internet shopping'?

    Secure internet shopping means double protection of your online purchases with repeated authentication provided by MasterCard SecureCode and Verified by Visa solutions. The logos MasterCard SecureCode and/or Verified by VISA are visible in the online stores which have joined the programme. For further information, see here.

    Where can I register my card for secure internet shopping?

    You can register your card for secure internet shopping via Internet Banking in section "Secure internet shopping" by clicking the button "Register". If you wish to buy online, please note that both new and renewed cards require registration. Each card must be registered separately.

    How can I check whether the card is registered for secure internet shopping?

    You can do that via Internet Banking in the "Secure internet shopping" section.

    There is an icon next to the respective card's number. The green icon means that the card is registered for secure internet shopping. Red icon, in turn, indicates that the card is not registered.

    To register your card for safe online shopping, click on the "Register" button.

    What should I consider when shopping online?

    • Carefully read the merchant's terms of payment and provision of services, paying attention to any special conditions and information on the types of cards accepted by the retailer.
    • If your purchase is denied, we suggest checking information on the card and the account linked to it:
      • card expiry date (shown on the card; the card is valid until the last day of the month shown);
      • card's registration for secure internet shopping (this information is available on the Internet Banking site in section " Secure internet shopping"; the respective card must have the note "Internet shopping enabled" next to).
      • make sure that the account has sufficient funds in the card currency;
      • check whether the card transaction limit has been exceeded (information about the limits set for the card can be accessed by enabling information about the card on "Our company cards" section of the Internet Banking site).
      • check whether you entered the card validity date and CVV/CVC code correctly when making your purchase on the Internet.
    • Additionally, we suggest checking the software of the device used, web browser program settings and cache memory.

    What is the CVV/CVC code and where can I find it?

    The CVV/CVC is a three-digit code visible on the reverse side of card next to the signature panel.

    The CVV/CVC code is used for confirming card transactions on the web.

  • Paying abroad

    Does my VISA / MasterCard card work abroad?

    Yes. VISA / MasterCard cards are accepted for payment in all retail outlets worldwide where the VISA or MasterCard logo is shown and the retailer accepts that type of cards. Exception - the Cash Deposit Machine Card which is only for depositing cash via cash-deposit ATMs.

    How will currencies be exchanged when shopping or withdrawing money abroad?

    Shopping or withdrawing cash abroad requires that the account has sufficient balance in the principal currency of the card. At the time of payment, exchange to the respective currency takes place automatically.
    For example, if you pay with the Visa Business EUR card in the United Kingdom, the amount of the purchase will be automatically converted from euros to pound sterling.
    Cash transaction fees in foreign countries vary depending on the type of card. For further details see the bank's price list under the respective type of card.

  • ATM operations

    How much money can be withdrawn in one transaction in ATM with a card?

    The ATM can dispense up to EUR 850 at a time. If you need a larger amount of money, re-insert the card in the ATM.

    Where can I check the card's limit on cash withdrawals / deposits in ATM?

    The easiest way to find out your current card limits is via Internet Banking in section "Our company cards" by enabling information about the respective card (link View/Modify next to the card in question).

    How many banknotes can I insert in one transaction in a cash-deposit machine?

    Depending on the type of cash machine, up to 30, 50 or 100 banknotes may be inserted at a time. Please see up-to-date information on the cash machine.

  • Card renewal

    What is the validity period of the card?

    Normally all cards have one validity period - 3 years from the production of the card. The expiry date of the card is shown on the card in the format "mm/yy".

    In exceptional cases, the bank reserves the right to terminate the card before the expiry date. For further information, see the Card Agreement

    In which cases will the card be renewed?

    The card will be renewed:

    • if the company has selected so in the Card Agreement and the terms of the agreement are not later changed;
    • If the company has notified so later by modifying the conditions for the card via Internet Banking in the section "Our company cards" (click on the link View/Modify next to the card in question).

    In exceptional cases, the bank reserves the right not to renew the card. For further information, see the Card Agreement

    Will the PIN remain the same for the renewed card?

    Yes. The renewed card will have its former PIN.

  • Card suspension / blocking

    How can I close / suspend a card?

    A card can be closed or suspended by calling the bank on 67 444 444, by sending us a message via Internet Banking or at any Swedbank branch.

    The application to close or suspend the card may be submitted by the customer - the holder of the account to which the card is linked, or by the cardholder.

    Can a suspended card be activated?

    If you've suspended a card but later you find it, the card can be activated at any Swedbank branch by presenting the found card and your passport or eID card.

    If there is a possibility that the payment card may have become available to a third party at the time of losing it, then, for security reasons, we recommend closing the card and ordering a new one.

  • Security

    What is the card security password?

    The card security password is a word or a number, or combination of words or numbers, made up by the customer which is necessary for identifying the holder of the card for security reasons or for blocking the card in case of losing it.
    This password is shown in the Card Agreement.

    Is it safe to receive cards by post?

    Yes. Delivery of cards by post is secure:

    • the card is sent inactive and separately from PIN (for renewed cards, the PIN is not sent because it stays the same);
    • the card may only be activated via Internet Banking by the company's representative with the appropriate online banking user rights by entering the CVV/CVC code shown on the reverse side of the card.
  • Fees

    For using the card, depending on the type of card and according to the procedure laid down by the bank, the customer pays:

    • the issuance fee and
    • the monthly fee or next years' fee (depending on the type of card)

    The fees are charged according to the procedure set out in the Card Agreement.

    Fees for services are calculated and debited in accordance with the Price List and the Card Agreement.

  • Discontinued cards

    Following the market demand, Swedbank continuously upgrades its product portfolio by introducing new cards and gradually phasing out outdated cards. We no longer issue the following cards to customers:

Visa Business EUR Card

  • New cards no longer issued to customers from 03.10.2016.
  • If you've enabled automatic card renewal upon expiry, then from November 2016 the Visa Business EUR Card will be automatically renewed to the Business Debit Card with full functionality.
  • Business Debit Card with full functionality:
    • a debit card of the MasterCard brand
    • provides a wider range of services for the same price as compared to the Visa Business EUR Card
    • comes with the contactless payments feature

Cash-Deposit Card

  • If you've enabled automatic card renewal upon expiry, then from November 2016 the Cash-Deposit Card will be automatically renewed to the Business Debit Card with limited functionality.

    • a debit card of the MasterCard brand;

    • special fee, different from the full-functionality Business Debit Card, applies for using the card;

    • a credit card of the VISA brand;
    • allows using the available credit limit on purchases with the card both in Latvia and abroad, as well as online;
    • an interest-free period of up to 40 days applies for card purchases;
    • convenient transfers directly from or to the credit card account at no extra charge (fee equivalent to regular transfers from current account applies);
    • comes with comprehensive travel insurance valid worldwide for the cardholder and three colleagues accompanying the cardholder on the business trip outside their country of residence;
    • with the Business Gold Revolving Credit Card, the holder also gets the Priority Pass membership card which, subject to an extra charge, gives access to over 900 airport VIP lounges around the world.
